THE GROVE
A YEAR-ROUND HOME FOR THE WORK WE WERE NEVER MEANT TO DO ALONE.
The Grove is a membership community where healing continues beyond the workshop. Through monthly gatherings, guided practices, thoughtful resources, and meaningful connection, you'll have a place to return to all year long.

WHAT IS THE GROVE?
The Grove is a membership community from Village of Sound Mind where healing continues beyond our monthly gatherings.
Whether you're returning after Holding Space or looking for a place to stay connected to your practice, The Grove offers space to reflect, reconnect, and grow alongside a community that believes healing happens in relationship.
Inside, you'll find monthly Holding Space gatherings, guided audio practices, reflective journal prompts, thoughtfully curated resources, and conversations that remind you you're not doing this work alone.
This isn't another platform to keep up with.
It's a place to keep returning to.
WHO IT IS FOR?
The Grove centers women, femmes, and non-binary folx of color, with the experiences of Black women at the heart of it. Holding Space, inside, is our affinity circle, centering Black women, femmes, and non-binary folx. You are welcome here if you can honor that centering and hold space with care.
This was built for folx who want community and cannot always get to it in person. If you are managing a non-apparent disability or chronic illness, if you are outside the US, if there is nothing like this where you live, or if your capacity does not follow a schedule, you are exactly who this is for.
Come as you are. Come as you can.

Fair question, and I want to answer it honestly rather than with adjectives.
Most communities like this are built around one person's expertise, and what you are buying is access to them. This one is built on the assumption that everyone here knows something worth knowing, including you. Members present. Members share jobs. The prompts are exploration, not instruction. I facilitate this. I do not supply it.
A clinician runs it, and tells you plainly that it is not therapy. Most spaces in this world sit at one of two extremes. Either nobody has clinical training and it shows in how people handle each other's hard things, or someone has training and quietly lets the community feel like discount therapy. I am trying to do the harder third thing.
Witnessing over fixing is a trained stance here, not a vibe. Every peer community says it wants to be supportive. In practice, unfacilitated spaces default hard to advice-giving, because that is what people do when they care and do not know what else to offer. Holding a room that does not do that is a skill, and it is the one I bring.
It is deliberately designed against engagement. No streaks. No completion. Nothing expires. Most memberships are engagement-optimized because engagement predicts retention. I chose a worse retention mechanic on purpose, because the alternative would contradict everything I teach about rest.
Async is the design, not the consolation prize. This was built for folx who cannot always gather in person. You are the intended member, not the accommodation.
And here is what it is not. The Grove is not the biggest community you could join, and it is not the most active. If you want daily engagement and a feed that moves fast, you will probably find this place quiet. There is no networking angle and no business outcome. It will not make you more productive.
What it is: a small number of people willing to be honest with each other, once a month in a live room and in between whenever you have it in you. If that sounds like not very much, it might not be for you, and I would rather you know that now than three months in.
-
No, and I want to be clear about that, because the line matters.
I am a licensed clinical social worker, and everything I bring into this community is shaped by that training. But The Grove is community and education, not clinical care. Nothing here is therapy, assessment, diagnosis, or treatment. There is no treatment plan, no clinical record, and no therapeutic relationship between us.
What that means practically:
a.) I am not tracking your progress or responsible for your clinical outcomes.
b.) What I share here is general, not tailored to your specific situation.
c.) The other members responding to you are peers offering their experience, not professionals offering care.
What The Grove is good at is the thing therapy often cannot give you: other people. Being witnessed by folx who get it. Not having to explain the whole context before you can say the actual thing. That is real, and it is valuable, and it is a different thing than treatment.
-
No. I am your facilitator, and I take that seriously, but it is a different role with different boundaries.
I know that can feel like a technicality when I am the one making the audio you listen to at 2am. It is not a technicality. A therapeutic relationship comes with protections, obligations, and confidentiality standards that a community space cannot replicate. Blurring that line would not give you more of me. It would give you less protection.
-
Yes, and it is not a trial. Holding Space opens to the public once a quarter. It is free, nobody is turned away, and that is not changing. If The Grove is not something you can invest in right now, that door is still yours.
-
Yes, in the sense that matters most: every member gets identical access, and there are three rates you choose between based on your circumstances. Nobody gets a better Grove for paying more.
Founding is for folx who have been showing up to Holding Space already. Standard is what it costs. Sustainer is for people who can give more so that running this stays possible and Founding rates stay where they are.
What I do not have yet is a rate below Standard that anyone can self-select into on the basis of need alone. I want that, and it depends on having enough Sustainers to fund it.
In the meantime, Holding Space opens to the public once a quarter, free, and nobody is turned away. That is not a limited version of something. It is the same circle.

Email admin@villageofsoundmind.co and we will cancel it. You do not owe anyone an explanation, and nobody will try to talk you out of it.
Your access runs through the end of the period you have paid for, and you will not be charged again. When your membership ends, so does your access to the community and the libraries, including the Holding Space archive.
There is no pause option, but you can cancel and rejoin whenever you are ready. The door stays open.
-
No. The Grove is not clinical care, so it is not billable to insurance.
What if I share something here and you become concerned about me?
If you post something that makes me worry about your safety, I will reach out to you directly and privately. I will ask how you are and point you toward support that can actually reach you.
What I want you to understand is that this community is not a place I can keep you safe from. I am one person, I am not here around the clock, and I have no way to reach you in an emergency. So please do not use The Grove as your safety net. If you are in crisis, call or text 988, call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room. Outside the US, please use your local emergency number.
