What Therapy at VOSM Looks Like
Therapy at Village of Sound Mind is trauma-informed, liberation-centered, and culturally grounded. It is built for BIPOC and Queer individuals in Maryland and Virginia who are ready to move beyond surviving and into something that actually feels like their life.
This is not a space where you have to translate yourself or shrink to be understood. It is a space where your full identity — your history, your body, your culture, your complexity — is not just welcomed but centered.
Who Therapy Is For
Therapy at VOSM is particularly suited for:
Black women and Women of Color navigating the weight of racialized trauma, high achievement, and the exhaustion of always being strong
BIPOC and Queer individuals processing childhood, sexual, or relational trauma
People who appear fine on the outside but feel deeply disconnected, depleted, or stuck inside
Those ready to move from performing wellness to actually experiencing it
How We Work Together
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)
Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR focuses on targeting specific traumatic memories and uses specialized techniques to promote healing.
My approach weaves together elements of Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy. Always guided by what you need, not a rigid framework.
Trauma-Informed Talk Therapy
A person-centered, collaborative approach that honors your pace and centers your expertise on your own experience. Sessions are 50-60 minutes and held virtually for Maryland and Virginia residents.
Pricing
Individual therapy sessions are $160 per 60-minute session.
Philicia is in-network with BCBS, Aetna, and Cigna. A sliding scale is also available for those without insurance coverage, determined through an anti-oppressive financial questionnaire. Accessibility matters here so please reach out if cost is a barrier.
